Turning To Quiet The Mind
One should know one's self well enough to describe themselves eloquently, until then we may need to settle with what we've discovered as so far.

My profession, education and interests all revolve around analytics, categorizing, classifying and distributing. Attempting to manipulate the chaos presented and establish order, compartmentalize, store and distribute is the daily work.

Wood working provides an escape from true order. Wood is not a media that lends itself perfectly to the form envisioned. Having been alive itself, wood formed imperfectly and behaves unexpectedly. This forces me to be flexible when creating, requires patience and time.

No piece can truly be rushed nor made to exacting specifications. Hoping to uncover the unexpected is a delight when turning wood, but accepting that the unexpected may be less beautiful than desired is key. Learning that wood can't be controlled entirely is wonderful.
